Do you feel Inadequate?

,

Yes, I have to admit that I sometimes feel inadequate but then wasn’t I made to connect and rely on God for my adequacy? “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13) is true for me as it was for my late hubbie, Mike, whose baptism verse this was and who lived by it. The apostle, Paul, said that when he was weak then he was really strong (see 2 Corinthians 12:10) as then his strength came from God who was and is much stronger than he.

My feelings lie to me when the circumstances seem grim and when situations aren’t exactly happy, but the truth is always the same. So, where can we find truth at these times of inadequacy? I would say that the Bible is this as it tells us about the One who called himself the truth and lived it wholly. Jesus is all I need with any problem, challenge or difficulty. Don’t we humans need his help continually yet I so readily try to work things out myself? “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.” (So says the Preacher in Proverbs 3:5-6)

God is the one who loves and cares and watches over our world. He’s given us the tool of prayer to enable things to happen. We can simply ask, seek and knock and keep on asking, seeking and knocking until we see God move situations and even countries. We saw this recently with Brexit here in the UK. Many people prayed and we were given the answer against all the odds and opinion polls!

How God longs for little ones to latch onto him and learn key life lessons in trust and faith, prayer and study. Let’s not deny our children the opportunities to learn from him in family devotions and Sunday School groups where Jesus can be central and life-changing. Just today, a close relative said to me that a certain person could never change. I disagree, as Jesus is in the business of changing lives today! … one step at a time, one day at a time … so that individuals can become Christ-like. That is what our children need to know – God is a transforming God who can make any life godly if we give our lives over to him. He’s preparing us for the real life. This life on earth is just the dress rehearsal! May our children know this too and start getting prepared, learning to feel adequate in him!
