God’s Powerful Word

,

“In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” So says John 1:1 in the Good News Bible. The word is written but the word is also a person, Jesus Christ. Both are incredibly powerful.

Recently, I have need of God’s powerful  written word. In fact to have it in the background (on a tape/CD) is amazing as the Holy Spirit can make a phrase or sentence come alive and have meaning for a particular situation. The written word leads us closer to the person of the word who is the One and only Jesus Christ who makes all things have meaning.

The Contemporary English Version of the Bible says “God’s word is alive and powerful! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts.” It thus has a huge effect and can be spoken into any problem or even world situation.

God has given us his word to make us complete so that we have an anchor when troubles and difficulties occur. God is solid and he reflects this solidness in the words that he says. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don’t lean on your own understanding.” has been a verse from Proverbs 3 that provides a way for us to lean on God. So often we don’t understand the pathway God puts us on but if we stay on it with Him beside us we can’t go wrong even if it may feel that way at times.

The Diamond Books project exists and is motivated to give children the anchor of the written word of God. It’s stories are accurately based on the Scriptures and there is a verse in each book to help a child remember the truths they learn in the books. Our youngsters need God’s word so much today when they are bombarded with all sorts of ideas and words.

Let’s encourage our children to come to Jesus and learn of him as they take hold of God’s word for themselves. Then they will be productive citizens and shine as lights in a dark world.
